There are so many options when looking at preschools — some schools start at age 2, others start at 2.5. Some only offer half days, others have extended days. If you are a working parent, you may prefer carpool pick-ups and drop-offs so you don’t have to find parking and walk your child in every day. Alternatively, if your preference is to be able to walk your child into his/her classroom every day (and even stay!), then this is also a consideration in choosing your child’s preschool. Matching not only your needs, but also your child’s needs, is important in cultivating a warm, loving first experience for everyone!

Finding the right elementary school is often a search for the whole family, as it becomes an extension of your home and your child’s “home away from home”.
Considering a school’s culture and curriculum, commute time, parent community, class size, K-6 vs. K-12 models including DK options, and countless other factors are important to discuss. Parents are often unsure about the differences between a more traditional and progressive school, and unaware of all the options that fall in between. It is important to know the school you are applying to.
CONSULTATION: My services begin with a consultation, where I will explain the various school types and options within your search criteria. I’ll then create a list of schools that aligns with your wants, and we’ll discuss how I can best support your family throughout the admissions process. After the consultation, I offer two types of services:
HOURLY: Depending on your needs between September-March, I can support you in your specific requests, including (but not limited to):
Organization of timeline and deadlines
Application review/revisions
Interview preparation
Assessment and feedback
Advocacy with Admissions Directors
Emails/Advice throughout the process
School Transfer advice
Relocation families
COMPREHENSIVE FULL SERVICE: With each school having different timelines and deadlines, parents sometimes find peace of mind in having a consultant take charge of every aspect and guide them throughout the entire admissions season (typically August/September through March). This includes:
Consultation and selection of schools
Application review/revisions (up to five schools)
Essay feedback for student submissions (when applicable)
Interview preparation for parents
Student Assessment and feedback
Continuous support and expertise throughout the admissions process
Overall guidance on communication and presentation
Advocacy with Admissions Director, if possible and appropriate

Applying to secondary school differs from applying to elementary school for many reasons. For one, schools are likely already on your radar, so the broad school search is less of a concern. Your children are also older, so they now have stronger opinions on where they'd like to go - and that's a good thing! The application process is a collaborative effort involving them as much as the you, the parent. It is imperative to prepare them for their interviews and any other requirements, such as essay submissions. Perhaps because I was a teacher for so many years, I really enjoy working with students on their interview prep. Without applying too much pressure, I know the significance their interviews have on their outcome, so this is a service I find tremendously helpful to families. (The feedback I've received from schools is unanimous: my clients all crush their interviews!) I cannot emphasize this enough: it is so important to set your children up for success as they go through the admissions process.
CONSULTATION: My services begin with a consultation, where I will explain the various school types and options within your search criteria, including the different entry points for schools (grades 6-12, 7-12, 6-8, and 9-12), and learn about what you and your child are looking for as well as the schools you are considering.
After the consultation, I offer three types of services for secondary schools:
HOURLY: Depending on your needs between September-March, I can support you in your specific requests, including (but not limited to):
Organization of timeline and deadlines
Application feedback/revisions for student and parent
Interview preparation for student and parent
Advocacy with Admissions Directors

School Transfer advice
Relocation families
INTERVIEW PREPARATION PACKAGE: This includes three 45-minute sessions with your child, in-person and virtually

Charter, Magnet, Gifted, Dual Language Immersion… the list of different types of public schools seem endless. Some parents think their only option is to move into a neighborhood with a highly ranked public school or pay for a private school to get the quality of education they desire for their child.
There are other options. For example, the lottery system can get you into an amazing school, but you have to know how, when, and which schools to apply to. I can guide you through the different types of public schools and talk about their benefits vs. private schools. There is more than one way!
